The ‘Hybrid Look’ is a combination of classic lashes and volume fans. We LOVE this look because it creates beautiful, fluffy sets.
To make it easier for you to create this look, we’ve created a hybrid lash “kit”, a list of the essential products you need to achieve this look.
We know that being organized helps us to do our best work and makes us more efficient. Having all the essential products for a specific style in one place will help you to do that!
In this guide, we'll break down what hybrid lashes are, the steps to achieve a flawless hybrid look, and the products you should have in your hybrid lash “kit.”
What Are Hybrid Lashes?
Hybrid lashes are a mix of classic and volume lash extensions.
They offer a beautiful blend of texture, fullness, and natural charm.
By combining these two styles, hybrid lashes deliver a unique, customized look for clients seeking something between subtle and dramatic. Think classic lashes, but better!
Why Choose Hybrid Lashes?
- Natural with extra fullness: Hybrid lashes offer a fuller look than classic extensions without the boldness of volume lashes.
- Ideal for all eye shapes: The mix of individual lashes and volume fans enhances natural lashes in a way that complements every eye shape.
- Customizable: Hybrid lash sets allow lash artists to cater to the client's lash health and style preferences while delivering a tailored look.
Steps to Creating a Stunning Hybrid Lash Look
Creating a hybrid look requires blending technique and artistry, as well as having the right items in your “kit”.
Here are the steps to get you started:
Step 1: Lash Prep and Cleansing
Prepping natural lashes is essential for lasting results and lash health.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Use a gentle lash cleanser, such as Lash Suds, to clean the natural lashes and remove oils and residues.
- Apply lash prep products like hypochlorous acid to promote ocular hygiene. We recommend Hale Derma.
Step 2: Lash Mapping
Lash mapping will help you create symmetry and balance when designing any lash set.
Here's how to do it:
- Analyze the client’s eye shape, natural lashes, and desired look.
- Map out the ideal placement of individual eyelash extensions, volume fans, and fills.
Step 3: Apply Classic Lashes
For a hybrid lash set, begin with classic lash extensions:
- Separate the lashes using an isolation tweezer.
- Pick classic lashes from the lash tray using your choice of tweezers.
- Dip the base of individual lashes into a droplet of adhesive and apply it to the natural lash, leaving 1-2 mm from the root.
- Repeat this process across all the lashes except those designated for volume fans.
Step 4: Apply Volume Fans
Next, add volume fans throughout the classic lashes:
- Use volume lashes (typically 0.03-0.07) from your lash tray to add fullness without overpowering the classic lashes.
- For efficiency, consider pre-made fans that blend seamlessly with individual lashes.
- Place the volume fans strategically to enhance the shape and achieve a balanced hybrid look.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
After placing the lashes:
- Perform a final check for balance and fullness across both eyes.
- Use a nano mister or Superbonder to set the lash extension glue for a faster bond and added comfort.

A well-rounded “kit” is essential to create flawless hybrid lash looks.
Here’s a list of must-have items:
1. Lash Extensions in a Variety of Curls and Lengths

2. Lash Adhesive
Pick the right adhesive for your climate and level of experience.
- Lash Bomb: Ideal for beginner-to-intermediate lash artists. It performs optimally in 45-65% humidity, with a setting time of 1.5-2 seconds. For best results, replace the drop every 20-30 minutes to ensure up to 6 weeks of retention.
